This Sample Effects section demonstrates some, and lists more, of the “effects” that you can have on your web site.

Depending on the brand and version of web browser that you are using, and the options and preferences you selected in both the web browser and your computer’s operating system, some of the “trick” items in this section might not work, or even be visible. Some of these effects use JAVA, JAVAScript, DHTML, popup windows, SSI, FLASH, MP3 and WAV sounds, MPG movies, and/or animated GIFs in various places.

If you don’t already have it (but many computers do), please install the JAVA Virtual Machine on your system to view the JAVA samples.

IMPORTANT! If one or more of the effects don’t seem to work, or aren’t even visible, please see the Important Note at the bottom of this page.

Web page effects are loosely divided into these groups:

• Navigation aids like buttons and links, “Go” menus, drop-down menus, text navigation.
   
• Image managers like “ad” banners, picture rollovers, “timed” pictures, popup photos.
   
• Other website enhancements like on-line forms, “Hits” counter, “printer friendly” pages, downloadable files.
   
• nPower is a special program we offer that allows you to edit most of the content of most of the pages in your web site.
   
• Edit My Page is a special service we offer that allows you to edit a page in your web site, at any time and as often as you want. No “special” software is needed.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Depending on which brand and version of web browser you (or your web site visitor) are using, and some settings in both the web browser and the computer’s operating system, it is possible that some of the effects in this and other web sites might not work, or might not even be visible. This is due to the differences in how the various web browsers process the same web page.

Generally, the effects in this web site work in:

• Opera version 6.0
• Mozilla version 1.2
• FireFox version 0.8
• Netscape version 6.01
• Internet Explorer version 5.5

...web browsers or newer.

America Online (AOL) uses a slightly modified version of Internet Explorer 5 or 6.

Most web surfers are using at least one of these browsers.

It is impossible to guarantee that all web surfers will be able to see these effects, or that the web page will be displayed the same way in all web browsers.

MSN TV (formerly WEB TV), cellphones, PDAs, and similar devices might not display the effects, or even the web page(s).

Another important note.

Some of these effects use JAVA. Some new computers that had originally had only Microsoft’s Windows XP or Windows VISTA and Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0 pre -installed might not have JAVA. This is because Microsoft did (does) not include JAVA in some versions of Windows XP or VISTA or with Internet Explorer 6 or 7.

Computers that had Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT originally installed, and then were upgraded to Windows XP or VISTA, might already/still have JAVA.

Sun Microsystems has a free JAVA add-in available for Windows XP, Windows VISTA , Internet Explorer, and other operating systems and web browsers.
