I take your content (text, photos, artwork, graphics, etc.) and convert it into an elegantly simple web site of up to 10 pages for one low price, with no set-up fees, and no long-term obligation or commitment. Additional web pages, page updates, site maintenance, domain name registration, web site hosting, and other services are available separately.
I use a variety of software packages and service providers to create a quality web site for your needs. I “proof view” your web site with FireFox, Opera, America Online, and Internet Explorer web browsers (on a Windows-based computer) to ensure that everything in your site looks and works as “right” as possible, before your site goes on-line.
Please understand that I am not an advertising or marketing agency. Therefore, I do not make business decisions for you. Advice is given freely upon request, but take it at your own risk.
I do not do, or advise you on, software or hardware installation, configuration, set-up, training, or consultation.
There are two cases where I do help you install and set up software and provide training:
- for the program nPower in conjunction with your web site.
- for creating an “account” in your E-mail program like Eudora or Thunderbird or Outlook Express, and to get the E-mail program working with your web site’s E-mail system.

To successfully keep visitors at any web site requires web pages that load relatively quickly, are interesting, and are easy to understand and navigate.
I
believe that you have less than 30
seconds after a visitor arrives at your
web site to convince them to stay and
look around, before they click off to
some other web site.
Therefore, I prefer to not use: large file-size graphics, auto-start sound, JAVA, FLASH, Shockwave, browser-specific HTML or coding (like ActiveX), frames, video, movies, “crawlers” in the web browser status line, a “Welcome” splash page, animated GIFs, PowerPoint “slideshows”, or other Flashy Blinky Things (FBTs), unless it directly supports or enhances the purpose of your web site. Many of these things take time to download, some don’t display in all web browsers, and some require that the web site visitor have a “plug-in” viewer or a web browser “helper” program to be able to see the effect.
In
other words, with many of my web site
designs, your web site pages will load
relatively fast, and will work and be
visually similar, on many web browsers,
without your visitors having to have any
plug-ins to view your page. There will
be some unavoidable differences in the
site’s appearance due to
user-specified settings in their web
browser and computer’s operating
system, and other factors.
As an aside, I saw this interesting statement on a message board:
“I
think some people send HTML email with
bells and whistles for the same reason
that their websites are covered with
moving things (10 minute Flash intros,
all sorts following the cursor about,
and autostart music) - just to prove
they can do it. They don't have any
idea of how annoying it all is to people
on the receiving end.”

When
I’m done building and uploading
your web site, I can give it to you on
your choice of a CD or DVD. You will get
all the URL’s, HTML code, graphics
and photos, files, and everything else
needed to access your web site and all
it’s features. It is yours to do
with as you wish, including taking it to
some other web site builder.

I’ve
had various people (lawyers,
accountants, business owners, churches,
individuals, etc.) ask me to build a web
site for them, then were surprised when
they found out that they had to provide the content (text) for the site!
Building
a web site is a lot like an author
wanting to publish a book. The author
must first write the book, then give the manuscript to the publisher. Only then can
the publisher print the pages, bind them
into chapters, and put a cover on the
book.
The
same applies to web sites. I, and every
other web building service, cannot
possibly build a web site for you if you
don’t have text content to put in
it. Web builders can’t read your
mind, and have no idea what you want in
your site unless you provide the text
content. We can enhance your ideas with our suggestions for colors, graphics, photos, layout, etc., but we have no clue as to your products or services, your prices, your marketing strategy, your target audience, or your sales and privacy policies.
